PastureProTM posts are the first and only post to receive accreditation for use in organic agriculture. PastureProTM posts are a permanent line post solution for high-tensile electric fencing. Self-insulating, tough, yet flexible enough to allow high-tensile wire to react as intended. ProLine PLUS posts are specifically recommended for woven-wire and  multi-wire fences. A PastureProTM fence post is an "oriented" wood-plastic composite post made with non-hazardous materials. Looks, feels and handles like wood. Won't leave splinters in your hands!

Features:
  • Made for electric fencing
  • Tough, flexes with pressure
  • Looks, feels and handles like wood - won't rot
  • No fiberglass or PVC - doesn't leave splinters
  • Non-conductive (means fewer shorts)
  • Holds the ground well
  • Allows high-tensile wire to react as intended and creates a truly high-tensile fence
  • Simple to install
  • Drills like wood - drills easily in the field
  • Wire attaches simply with Cotter Pins

  • Made in the USA

What materials are in these posts?
The product consists of reclaimed wood flour (30-40%), food-safe polypropylene (60-70%), and a small percentage of process additives such as pigments and UV inhibitors. The product does not contain any PVC or fiberglass and great care is taken in the manufacturing process, making them ideal for organic operations.

Have I seen these posts before?
The PastureProTM post has been on the market since 2005. For the first few years, sales were directed through an independent electric fence dealer. The PastureProTM brand was established in 2009 to improve product availability for our customers through a broad network of dealers.

How long will the posts last?
The posts have undergone advanced weathering testing under extreme water, humidity and UV conditions. Using the data from this research, the posts should last at least 20 years and come with 20-year limited warranty. The first posts put in the ground in 2004 have weathered extremely well.

Can the PastureProTM posts break?
When bent to extremes the post can produce a bulge, but it's next to impossible to break it in two. Visit our website at PastureProPost.com to see the post stand up to the "bale test".

Is a special cap needed when driving?
Unlike fiberglass, there is nothing extra needed when driving PastureProTM posts. They have been heat podded on top and are tough. PastureProTM posts also stay in the ground much better than a fiberglass rod.

How do they compare to a T-post + insulator?
PastureProTM posts are self-insulated, unlike T-posts, which are really just ground rods with insulators attached. Self-insulation helps to ensure that the voltage on the wire stays on the wire, instead of being leaked through cracked or broken insulators or even through tall grass touching both the T-post and the wire. On a T-post, each individual insulator is a liability to your fence and a potential for a short.
In addition to being self-insulating, PastureProTM posts are flexible, which allows hi-tensile wire to stretch and recover when stressed. In contrast to the rigidity of a T-post and insulator, a PastureProTM post flexes with the wire, which ensures the fence stays tight and doesn't sag.

How are these posts driven?
In most cases, the wire is attached to the post with a cotter pin through a drilled hole.

Are the posts pre-drilled?
No, but these posts can be easily field drilled with any cordless drill using a 3/16" bit. There is virtually no bit run off due to the surface texture. Drilling these posts is about like drilling soft wood. Our overall recommendation is to drive the posts, then drill in the field. This will give you a better overall finished product and allow for hole spacing options where you have terrain challenges.
Drive
PastureProTM posts are driven with a manual post driver, just like those used for driving steel T-posts.

In rocky or compacted soils, a pilot driver is recommended.

Drill
PastureProTM posts can be drilled easily with any standard cordless drill.

It is recommended to field drill PastureProTM posts after they are driven. The posts have excellent ground-retention properties which prevent turning or rotating a post to align a pre-drilled hole with the wire.

Installation Tip: Avoid over sizing the hole. A 3/16" drill bit is recommended for most cotter pins.

Attach
Cotter pins are inserted through the hole to attach the wire to the post. The tails of the cotter pin are wrapped around the post and not around the wire itself.

If you do bring the cotter pin tail back around the wire, do not cinch it up tightly. This allows the wire to travel freely through the pin when pressured or tightened.
